How to improve Focus and Concentration
The Concept
We have often heard these two words from our childhood. We have always been told to focus and concentrate by our parents, our teachers and by our seniors, both in personal life and in professional life. But what do these words mean? Are the same or do they have a different meaning? These two words differ from each other. In simple words focus means to pay a close attention whereas concentration means to put all the focus on something.
Importance
When we focus, we concentrate. When we don’t focus, we don’t concentrate. We can consider focus as a door to success and concentration as a path on which we walk and achieve our goals and get success. Until we have our full focus on anything we won’t be able to concentrate and we are not able to concentrate then we won’t be able to achieve our goals, whether short term or long term. Both are very important in every aspect of life and helps us in not getting distracted by anything or anybody.
How do we improve our focus and concentration?
To do and complete any task successfully we need to be focused and have concentration. Some people have it naturally and some people develop them in due course of time. We begin with evaluation. To improve the focus and concentration we first need to evaluate. Not only we should evaluate our strengths and weaknesses but also the mental level. Along with it we should also evaluate the sources of distractions. Once they are evaluated, we get a clear and bigger picture and focusing and concentration becomes easier.
We should break our goals into smaller ones and always try to take smaller steps. This will help us in being more focused and will increase our concentration. We would be stress free which again will increase the focus and the concentration.
Meditation improves our focus and once our focus improves the concentration will automatically improve. Practice makes a man perfect. The more we practice, the more we improve our focus and we start concentrating without getting distracted.
Benefits
If we can control the mind then we will be able to control the thoughts and once the thoughts are controlled, we become more focused and concentrate better. This bring the inner peace and once we are at peace from within, we achieve our goals. To have a sharp memory, both these tools are very necessary. We never forget anything because our complete focus and concentration would be on that particular task.
The efficiency of working increases because we only pay attention to the task that needs to be completed. This helps us in completing the task or tasks without mistakes. Once we learn to do the tasks without mistakes, we become quicker and more efficient. Our quality improves and become better which in turn will increase our self-confidence.
The new trend is Multitasking. But working on one task at a time helps us in being focused and helps us in giving our full concentration to that task only. The key to success is and have always been focus and concentration.
